Is your child ready for Kindergarten?

Do you have challenges engaging your child in fine motor activities? There might be a reason for why your child refuses or struggles when completing crafts or colouring. I can help!  I am currently accepting new referrals to assess children's fine motor skills and "printing readiness". My clients benefit from one-on-one help in bringing their developmental skills up to speed before kindergarten and grade one.

I have created several fun themed treatment sessions for my clients.  Just to name a few: Dinosaurs, Star Wars, Superheroes, Lego, and Fly Guy. Kids work on building their hand skills and printing skills while having fun.

NEWS: I was  busy last school year with new contracts at a few private schools and independent schools.  I have had lots of fun being part of the preschool and kindergarten classrooms while helping kids meet their full fine motor potential and ensuring they were fully integrated in sensory-friendly environments.  This past summer was sensory-play-fantastic with summer groups at my Occupational Therapy practice!

BACK TO SCHOOL: I'm currently accepting new clients for Occupational Therapy assessments and treatment!  I am looking forward to helping new clients reach their full fine motor potential!

One of the things that teachers keep saying is that the children come into Kindergarten with terrible habits.

Here are some of the reasons:

  • Kids are playing with less fine motor toys and more with screens

  • Some children are attending day care/ babysitters that don't teach handwriting or promote fine motor activities

  • Preschools are under pressure to teach handwriting and other skills that aren't developmentally appropriate

Because of all of these things, kids are compensating for weak motor skills. They are picking up pencils and trying to write letters before they're physically ready. As a result, they're developing all kinds of bad habits: poor grip, improper letter formations, and more. I CAN HELP KIDS BUILD THEIR FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND TEACH PARENTS WHICH PLAY ACTIVITIES THEY CAN DO AT HOME!
